Why invest in gold?

Throughout the ages, gold has served as a currency and an investment of choice around the world. History suggests that, over the long term, gold has held its relative economic value. Today, many financial analysts believe that gold serves as an important part of a balanced investment portfolio as an effective hedge against inflation, recession, financial market and paper currency volatility.

By definition, gold production and exploration comes with risks and uncertainties.  Gold mining stocks are another means of gold investment that has potentially higher risks and rewards by leveraging the spot gold market.  Discoveries and development of economic deposits by gold mining companies have delivered significant returns to investors.  Like any investment, investors should carefully research and understand the risks involved before investing.
